Green Peas Pulav | Peas Pulao | Peas Pilaf


Peas Pulav is a popular recipe and one of my favorites.  Its very easy to prepare, does not take much time, less chopping involved, but tastes awesome.   Here's how you prepare this flavorful Peas Pulav..


Peas Pulao, Matar Pulao




Ingredients:


  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Peas - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 large size
  • Green chillies - 3
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch piece
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cardamon - 2
  • Coriander leaves - 1 cup 
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

How To Prepare Peas Pulav:


  • Pressure cook rice, remove and take it into a wide basin and allow to cool.  Then add ghee, mix well and keep it aside.
  • Chop onions finely.  Make a paste of coriander leaves, ginger, garlic, chillies and salt adding a little water.
  • Heat oil in kadai and add the garam masala pieces (cinnamon, cloves and cardamom) and bay leaf.
  • Add the finely chopped onions and fry till they turn transparent.
  • Add peas and saute in medium flame for a few minutes.
  • Add the ground paste and mix well.  Adjust salt if necessary and cook in low flame with the lid closed.  Keep stirring in between so that the veggies do not stick to the bottom.
  • Check if the peas are cooked (do not overcook them) and remove from fire.
  • Add this to the rice in the basin and mix well.
  • Peas pulav is ready.  Can serve with raita/pachadi.
